Cookie Policy — Tracking & Preferences

This policy explains what cookies are, which ones TravelBuzzy uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your cookie preferences at any time.

Last updated: June 22, 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites function properly, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners about how visitors use their site. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your device.

Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags (also called web beacons). This policy covers all of these technologies collectively.

2. How We Use Cookies

TravelBuzzy uses cookies for the following purposes:

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as setting your privacy preferences or navigating between pages. You can configure your browser to block these cookies, but some parts of the Site may not function correctly as a result.

  • Session cookies — temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser, used to maintain your session as you navigate the Site
  • Security cookies — used to protect against cross-site request forgery and similar attacks

2.2 Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site — for example, which pages are most visited, where traffic comes from, and how long visitors stay. This information helps us improve the Site and our content. Data collected is aggregated and anonymised where possible.

  • Google Analytics — used to analyse traffic and content performance. IP addresses are anonymised. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Plausible / Fathom — privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies (if applicable)

2.3 Affiliate Tracking Cookies

When you click an affiliate link on TravelBuzzy, the destination merchant or affiliate network may set cookies on your device to track that you arrived via our referral. These cookies allow the merchant to attribute a commission to TravelBuzzy if you complete a qualifying purchase, typically within a defined cookie window (usually 24 hours to 30 days depending on the partner).

Affiliate tracking cookies are set by third parties, not by TravelBuzzy directly. Examples include:

  • Booking.com — 30-day attribution cookie for hotel bookings
  • Expedia / Hotels.com — cookie window varies by product
  • Skyscanner — flight referral tracking
  • Commission Junction (CJ), Impact, ShareASale — affiliate network tracking cookies
  • TravelPayouts (Aviasales, KKday, Klook) — flight, activity, and hotel affiliate tracking via tpx.lu redirect domains. TravelPayouts may also load a script from emrld.ltd for click attribution and conversion tracking.

These cookies do not grant TravelBuzzy access to your personal booking information or payment details.

2.4 Advertising Cookies

TravelBuzzy may in future use advertising platforms (such as Google AdSense or Mediavine) to display relevant advertisements. These services may set cookies to serve targeted ads based on your browsing history. Where advertising cookies are used, they will be subject to your consent preferences.

You can manage personalised advertising preferences at:

2.5 Functional Cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation — for example, remembering your newsletter preferences or region setting. Disabling them may affect the quality of your experience.

3. Cookie Durations

Cookies can be either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a defined period):

  • Session cookies — expire at the end of your browser session
  • Short-term persistent cookies — typically 7–30 days (analytics, affiliate tracking)
  • Long-term persistent cookies — up to 2 years (preference and consent records)

4. How to Manage Cookies

You have several options for controlling cookies:

4.1 Browser Settings

All major browsers allow you to block, delete, or restrict cookies through their settings. Note that blocking all cookies may break some features of the Site and other websites. Instructions for common browsers:

4.2 Withdraw or Change Your Consent

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer. This re-opens the consent banner, where you can accept, reject, or customise which cookie categories are active. Your updated preferences take effect immediately.

4.3 Opt-Out Tools

  • Google Analytics — Browser add-on
  • Affiliate tracking — clear cookies after visiting third-party booking sites, or use browser privacy mode

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers support a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. TravelBuzzy does not currently respond to DNT signals because there is no consistent industry standard for how to interpret them. We encourage you to use the opt-out tools above if you wish to limit tracking.

6. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as new technologies or legal requirements emerge. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We recommend checking back periodically.
